ON-SITE COMPUTER HELP IN THE CONVENIENCE OF YOUR OWN HOME

Here are some of the computer services we offer for your home:

Anti-Virus

There are a lot of different anti-virus programs out there. Free anti-virus programs are common and often offer adequate protection. However, no program, no matter how good, is 100% effective. Hackers who program viruses are continually coming up with new ways to infiltrate systems and gain access to your personal information. Anti-virus programs, though necessary, are not a guarantee of protection. You should be very careful about links you click on within strange emails, social media, and other advertisements. If you are unsure, call Resolve IT Computers and we can help you determine if the link is safe. Also, avoid file-sharing programs such as Limewire and any website that promises free downloads of music or software that you would typically pay for. Free downloads often mean free viruses. If you think you have a computer virus, Resolve IT Computers can help you remove it (see Virus Removal).

Virus Removal

If you use the internet, viruses and other malware can infiltrate your computer and cause all sorts of problems. If your computer is running slower than normal, or your internet seems to lag, you may have a virus or other malware that is compromising your security and efficiency. Resolve IT Computers has many tools that allow us to quickly and safely remove viruses from infected computers. We can then help ensure your system remains secure through educating you and your family about internet security and installing effective anti-virus programs.

Networking

Multiple computers in the home means you need to have a home network. Laptops have wireless capability built-in, but many desktops can also be setup to work wirelessly. Either way, you have to have a router in order to make a home network. Resolve IT Computers can install and configure a wireless router for your home so that you can use multiple computers on the internet at the same time, including laptops from anywhere in your home. We can also help you with file and printer sharing.

File and Printer Sharing

Having multiple computers in the home is becoming more common. Families often want to share pictures, music, and other files between computers so that they can be accessed anywhere. Printing can also be a hassle if there are multiple computers but only one printer. Resolve IT Computers can setup a solution that will allow you to share files and print from all your computers, even wirelessly connected laptops. You don’t have to plug the laptop into the printer anymore every time you want to print.

Data Backup

More people are using their computers to store important data than ever before. Computers can be repaired, but some files, such as pictures and personal documents, can never be replaced. There are several options available for data backup (flash drives, external hard drives, online automatic backup). The most important rule to remember about data backup is to have your data in two places at the same time. Resolve IT Computers can help you determine which backup option is best for you and ensure that your data is safe and secure.

Upgrades

Many computers have the capacity to be upgraded instead of being replaced. This is a low-cost alternative that can extend the life of your machine. As a general rule, it is not cost-effective to upgrade computers manufactured more than 6 years ago. If your computer is less than 6 years old, Resolve IT Computers may be able to upgrade the hardware and/or software to provide you increased performance and reliability at a lower cost than replacing the whole computer. We can upgrade hard drives (more storage capacity), RAM (faster, smoother operation), Video card (gaming and application performance) and other components.

Software upgrades can also add improve the functionality of your computer. For example, if you own a computer running Windows Vista, you can upgrade to Windows 7 and experience significant increases in performance, reliability, and features.

Software/Hardware Troubleshooting

When a computer just doesn’t work like it used to, Resolve IT Computers can troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Generally speaking, hardware problems are easier to diagnose, but may be more expensive to fix. Software problems range from error messages to malfunctioning programs or compatibility issues. Resolve IT Computers can also work with the developers of any given software to provide quick and effective solutions.

Laptop Repair

Laptop computers are becoming more popular for their convenience and portability. However, since they are portable, laptops are prone to physical damage more so than desktop computers. Laptops are the victim of spills, flying objects, playful children, and other accidents. Resolve IT Computers can repair most laptops. We replace laptop screens, hard drives, motherboards, many DC jacks, and other components. These options are often more cost effective than replacing the computer, and we have warranties on our work. See our page on Laptop Repair

Cleaning

Computers must circulate air in order to remain cool. As a result, dust collects inside the components. If the dust is not periodically and carefully removed, the computer can overheat. Overheating can damage components and lead to hardware failure. The inside of the computer must be carefully cleaned using the right techniques and tools.

Printing problems

Many printing problems are caused by corrupt software or network configurations. Resolve IT Computers can troubleshoot printing problems whether it is from a single computer to a small inkjet printer, or multiple computers on a network printing to an office copier. Although we do not perform maintenance or repair on the printer itself, we can solve any software and connection problems.
